It’s been a minute since I’ve published something substantive. I have an excuse! Most of my writing isn’t necessarily “publish friendly”. By that, I mean the pieces I spend the most effort on have to do with my interests, beliefs, or a meticulous breakdown of conflict. Those tend to be a little more controversial and #salty so I only send them to a few people who then, proofread, and deem it as such(love y’all<3).

This past weekend, we were in Venezia. We enjoyed the water taxis, bridges, the Guggenheim(de venezia), the Academia(de venezia), the peacefulness on Burano, the colors of Burano’s homes, and Burano’s grocery stores. We stayed on Burano, a lovely island that is a 45 minute water taxi ride from Venezia.

Venezia was eh. It was about 36 degrees fahrenheit during out stay and it rained a good portion. It is a beautiful area but it is a blunt tourist trap. Unlike Hawaii, its island standing enforces reason to serve unimpressive food. That’s exactly what it was: unimpressive. Save for what was mentioned above, the glorified romanticism of the city was unimpressive. Your options are slim: spend money on gondola( in the rain, with gondoliers that aren’t singing) or spend money on a museum( I can dig it). Walking was the main mode of transportation but the rain encouraged us to take the water taxi more often than I would’ve preferred.

Here are some photos to keep you entertained. I have also figured out a way to make them smaller for your viewing ease. I’m going to try it out like this and you can let me know if you prefer the larger images than this size. Personally, I prefer them larger but let’s just test this out.

This was challenging without a tripod but I guess it’s not the worst.

We had a lovely time with our Saturday morning coffee in Venezia.

It’s a nifty little cafe where the customers are mostly italian. We heard no english speaking customers but did see a gondolier.

We then took the water taxi up and down the main ‘S’ of Venezia.

It was interesting to see how the different, framed photos were placed.

The accademia is mostly art inspired by the christian religion.

It’s pretty blatant.

The symbol of Florence is the Marzocco(lion). But this was in Venezia. He’s cute.
